‘Happy people are productive people’ is a false and untrue statement.  Happy people are diligent and persistent instead and not necessarily productive.  Productive people tend to their tasks and are not necessarily happy at it either.

Being productive can lead to being in a rut where there is no way out like a dead end job.  Productivity leads to only one avenue in life.  Not all jobs are good jobs.  Productivity stops there.

Diligence and persistence lives on, where productivity wears away after time.  What makes people ‘happy’ when unproductive like retirement time?  Their hobbies come from being diligent and persistent again.  Not a 9 to 5 job of productivity.

I’m on Disability and I’m not earning any money, but receiving aid at this time.  I’m considered nonproductive, but, I’m ‘happy’ at being diligent and persistent as writing this article.  I donate my articles making me unproductive because I’m not a wage earner now. 

There are people on this earth that aren’t very productive that live happily.  There are dutiful wives and growing children that aren’t very productive in a working sense whom are happy and content.  Hence, not many people are productive.

Diligence and persistence live on with all walks of life.  Making out all types of people to be productive is a falsehood.  Retired workers can be happy people without being productive.  They have their own hobbies and interests to keep them busy at life.

It is a ‘happy’ time to be on vacation and time off of work, not being very productive.  Having to ‘stop and smell the roses’ is essential for regrouping ones life.  People can’t always be productive all the time.

That is why seniors often take on a part-time job because the time off makes them happier yet.  Their diligence and persistence pays off more compared to productivity.  That is why happy people are not productive people.

I strongly disagree that happy people are productive people in this world we live in.  Productivity is just one aspect of life for just some people.  What about all the rest of the world?  What about students who are learning new skills so that they may one day be diligent and persistent at their work.

One day they will look back at their lives and write their own obituary at their life’s achievements before they died.  That is what my Mother did.  She had many aspects and facets of life through being diligent and persistent and not just being productive.
