The Role of Intelligence in a Modern Society
Intelligence within modern society is crucial if society is to progress. The role of intelligence plays the most important part of all in creating the infrastructure - the building blocks if you will - to a successful and thriving civilisation, Those who do not happen to be off sufficient ‘intelligence’ are left behind. And those who are left behind face a lifetime of struggle. They are the ones who generally remain, unemployed, or who remain in low-paid employment throughout their life, with no hope of progressing on, to better things.
The role of intelligence within modern society has never been more crucial. Although, throughout the ages, intelligence has played the main part of all achievements by the human race - from ancient civilisations through to the modern times. Intelligence has played a major part in reaching the achievements and results we have today.
It has laid the foundation by which everything we have in the present is down to what we have achieved in the past. The modern society we inhabit is crammed with things that simply would not have been possible to create/invent, if it had not been for the pioneers of the past.
Everything we see around us, everything we use, is thanks to the foundations that have been set. One could call it ‘forward-planning, for these inventions/creations and discoveries have pushed society forward. And those who discovered, created and invented those things became the ‘pioneers’.
For these were the people, both men and women, who experimented again and again to get the results they, and society, needed. The intelligence of those people - combined with their determination and perseverance - was exactly what society needed to progress and flourish.
And it was exactly because of the above-mentioned success of those who refused to give up, and of those who used their intelligence that would benefit society as a whole, that we have what we have at this present time. The role of intelligence today, in this modern society, is crucial. For without it society cannot then progress and move forward, and it would be forever stuck in the past.
We would be forever stagnating, never moving, never progressing, and always falling behind the rest of the world. Our education system, schools, colleges, and universities are vital in producing the medics, the pilots, the scientists, mathematicians, the teachers, engineers - and the rest of those vital positions that society needs to run smoothly.
The role of intelligence within a modern society is crucial to the smooth running of that society. Yet do people really pause, to stop and think about just where society would be without the intelligence to build it? There are many people who tend to take those things that we use within society for granted.
Yet, if they were not there, then society would certainly come grinding to a shuddering halt. The role of intelligence, within a modern society, will continue to push the boundaries on. For without that intelligence, we would be thrown back into the ‘dark ages’ before the Industrial Revolution, and even further back than that.. Yet, in stating that fact, this has to be balanced out by fairness within the education system itself. Right now there are people who are being priced out of even obtaining a half-decent education - while the top half of society can afford and enjoy the best education.
This has resulted in a ‘splintered’ and ‘fractured’ society, which saw riots spread across the United Kingdom, during the summer. So, as much as any civilisation needs intelligence, to enable to move forward, this must not be to the detriment of others, who, through no fault of their own, have not been given the chance of an education that could see them contribute too.
That is not to say that those who do, what many would call the ‘everyday’ jobs, are not just as crucial - or important. For without those who drive our public transport - not to mention our cabs and buses. Without those who work on the tills within stores, without our cleaners, our cooks, our painters and decorators, our delivery men and women, our electricians, society would come to a grinding halt. No matter how much, or how little a person’s intelligence happens to be, they too play their part in the smooth running of society within the modern age.
