Right, I am a male and yes I do believe my gender has an influence. Sometimes this can be a good thing but as I have a keen interest in women’s issues and women’s rights as well as equal rights then this can sometimes be a burden.

I have been trying to get into some organization that helps female victims of domestic violence the problem is that because I am male then there is no look in to provding help of any sort whether voluntary or paid. I cannot, will not and do not condone violence against women in any shape or form but can I get in and do voluntary work to help these people…. No, I cannot.

Many women complain about how men treat them but there are loads of men who treat them with respect and do not like what their brothers do and so would sometimes like to do something about it. So far I have come across brick wall after brick wall. There should be some allowance made to men who want to do something like campaigning, admin work or some other way of helping victims but there are none made.

Violence against women has become more common place, there are many forms of this not just physical but emotional, psychologically and mentally too. My best friend suffered this from two relationships and is still suffering from the emotional and mental scars. I do what I can to support her but feel that I could do more somewhere. Education is a good start, certainly where the perpetrators are concerned as they need to be shown the error of their ways and be shown that there is another way of treating their female partners.

One of the things that could be tried over in the UK if it is not already that is and that would be to secretly film the couple with only the wifes consent then shown to the male partner at a later date. This may work but may also have serious repurcussions. I would certainly like to know if this idea would work and if there is any feedback on this but not sure if there is. Over the years the police in the UK have been taking DV against women much more seriously thankfully but there is still too much work to do. Maybe one day I will be able to get more involved and maybe one day I will find myself doing more writing on here, who knows.

We still live in a man’s world but maybe if this was turned around and we lived in a ladies world would this be better? Would women have learned from the mistakes made by man?

One day gender equality will be here and women will walk side by side with their fellow man, maybe pink elephants will fly with pigs in the air.
