Equal Pay for Men and Women - Yes

Despite all the laws prohibiting employment discrimination, women continue to receive less pay than men for the same kind of work.

My question is: Are they both doing the same kind and quality of work, and equally efficient? If so, then there should be no question about their payment scales. If not, then we should never talk of equality in the work place.

Gender discrimination should not be allowed any more, whether it is in the work place or anywhere else. Those are issues of the past, and should not belong to the modern world, where there is absolutely no distinction between the quality of work that both genders do. Women are capable of performing as well as men. And sometimes even do better in certain areas. So should they still earn less because they are women? I dont think so.

I have never seen a product on the market where they say this was produced by a woman and therefore sells for less. Does that mean women dont work in production lines? I bet they do. So, why not ask that their products get discounted if you are going to pay them less at their jobs?

In the service industry or even in stores, I have not seen differences based on gender. Women and men pay the same amount for a product or service. So if they are going to be paid less at work, why should they be charged as much as men get charged too.

In schools, the rules are the same for men and women when it comes to obtaining their qualifications. Women study as hard as men and the grading system is the system. The grading procedure is the same, and they both end up with the credentials they both worked hard for. So why should they not be equally compensated if they are brining on board the same qualifications and will definitely equally contribute to the company’s productivity.

Women share bills in the home too. And nowadays it is an equal share. So why should they be subjected to less earnings when they will not get this priviledge at home? If they are not going to be paid the same, then a legislation should be passed allowing women to pay a less share of the bills than men.

The internal Revenue Service does not even tax both genders differently. So if they are all going to be subject to the same tax, I think they should earn the same for equal pay.

So, for as long as they are doing the same kind of work and in equal proportions, they deserve to earn the same. Otherwise, who ever performs more should earn more. This is when the issue of pay-for-performance comes in, and is totally different from the equal-pay-for-equal work.
